The term seer is an abbreviation for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The efficiency ratio is responsible for monitoring and measuring the cooling efficiency of the heat pump and the air conditioning. This energy efficiency ratio is calculated by output cooling of a monitored cooling season which is then divided by the total amount of electric energy recorded in the same time frame.

When you record a high SEER rating, it means that there was higher energy efficiency. The minimum and standard seer rating for cooling systems are 13. The new air conditioners have the seer standard ranging from 13 to 21. It is always advisable to keep in mind that your system’s efficiency is also determined by the amount of your current ductwork, the size of your home among other variables.

If you keep on changing the temperatures of your room or if the temperatures in your region keep on fluctuating you might not be able to net the actual potential value of your seer. This is because the seer value is termed as the cooling systems maximum potential which is not reached in this case as a result of variations in temperature over a short duration.

A higher seer not only guarantees overall savings but also it gives an assurance of better and higher comfort levels. The higher a seer is the more energy efficient it is, this means that you will spend less on your monthly bills, but the cost of getting these more top seer systems is also more expensive. A perfect example is the 21 seer cooling system, it will provide you cheap monthly electricity bills. However, its price is relatively high.

The high seer is often accompanied by two components that usually lead to more exceptional comfort in the rooms. These components are a variable speed blower and a 2 stage compressor. The lesser seer does not have the parts, instead, they only run a single stage or a one-speed compressor, which means that when the weather is mild, they will turn on and off.
